Welcome to Archery Research and Development – the online resource for archery research and archer development where we post the results of our work.
Yes, this is me – David Anderson. I am currently a Development Coach at Southampton Archery Club (working on my Level 3 Programme Coach) and also a Coach Developer where I help train the new batch of coaches to the sport as well as develop existing coaches; I am qualified and regulated by ArcheryGB.
My problem is that I love archery and every time I hear about something new, I have to research it and learn as much as I can about it. This is predominantly centred around my passion – the longbow! I have been making arrows for the longbow (and traditional barebow) for a number of years and I am STILL learning new things. I recently made my 2nd longbow with Lee Ankers at Heritage Longbows and also made the string – I am now looking at different string materials to determine which is best to use; that’s just what I do!
So, my plan with this website and company is to conduct research into archery equipment, test theories and post the results here – well, on the results page. I’m hoping the archer community will also engage and provide feedback, thoughts and opinions too.
On top of this, I shall also be continuing my coaching and looking at new styles/techniques with a view to also posting that information here too.
